Kraków is a perfect base for exploring the most-visited sights of Małopolska, and a weekend is usually just enough time to combine three very different destinations: the Wieliczka Salt Mine, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial in Oświęcim, and the mountain town of Zakopane. The challenge is logistics — public transport connections between these three places are not direct, and switching between trains, minibuses and taxis eats up hours you'd rather spend sightseeing. This is exactly the kind of trip where a private minibus with a driver from Kraków makes the biggest difference: one vehicle, one driver who knows the roads, and a schedule built around your group instead of a timetable.
Saturday works best for Wieliczka and Oświęcim together, since both lie roughly east and west of Kraków but are manageable in a single day with a car. Wieliczka is only about 15 km from the city centre — 20-25 minutes by road, even less if you're staying near the Old Town or Podgórze. A guided underground tour typically takes 2-2.5 hours, and our driver simply waits at the car park by the Daniłowicza or Regis shaft entrance, so there's no need to arrange a taxi back. From Wieliczka we head west toward Oświęcim, about 70 km and roughly 1 hour 15 minutes depending on the route through Skawina and Chrzanów. We recommend booking your Auschwitz-Birkenau entry slot in advance, since the memorial limits visitor numbers, especially from spring through autumn — your driver will coordinate arrival time so you're not rushing. After the visit (allow at least 3-3.5 hours for both sites), it's a straightforward drive back to Kraków, arriving in the evening with time to rest before day two.
Zakopane deserves a full day on its own. The distance from Kraków is around 100 km, but travel time on the Zakopianka route varies a lot —
