Transfer from Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport to Kraków and Zakopane

22.09.2026

Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport (officially Katowice Airport, IATA: KTW) is used every day by travellers and tour groups heading not only to Kraków but also further south, straight into the Tatra Mountains. As a Kraków-based carrier operating across Małopolska, we regularly organise transfers from Pyrzowice to both destinations, and we know from experience which routes, times and vehicle types work best depending on your group size and luggage.

Pyrzowice to Kraków — distance, routes and timing

The distance from Pyrzowice to Kraków is roughly 90 km, and under normal traffic conditions the drive takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. Our drivers usually take the A4 motorway via Katowice and Chrzanów, which is the fastest and most predictable option, especially for early morning or late evening flights when traffic around the Silesian conurbation is lighter. During peak hours (Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings) we factor in extra buffer time, since the stretch near Katowice and Chrzanów can slow down noticeably.

For groups landing in Pyrzowice and heading straight to Kraków's Old Town, hotels near the Main Square, or accommodation in districts like Podgórze or Kazimierz, we recommend booking an 8-seater bus for smaller groups (families, small delegations) or a 20-seater for larger parties, wedding guests arriving from abroad, or corporate groups attending conferences in Kraków. If you're coordinating a business trip, we also handle transfers for entire teams flying into Pyrzowice for meetings in the Kraków Business Park or around ul. Armii Krajowej.

It's worth mentioning that Kraków's own airport, Balice, is much closer to the city (around 15 km), so Pyrzowice is typically chosen when flight schedules, prices, or airline availability make it the more practical option — and that's exactly when a reliable transfer becomes essential, since there's no direct rail link between the two airports.

Pyrzowice to Zakopane — a longer but well-organised route

Transfers to Zakopane are noticeably longer, roughly 180 km, with a typical drive time of 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the season and traffic on the Zakopianka (DK7 / S7 route). We usually plan the route via Kraków, then south through Myślenice, Lubień, and Rabka-Zdrój, continuing on toward Nowy Targ and Zakopane. In winter, especially during ski season weekends (December through February), this route can experience significant congestion near Zakopane itself, so we build in extra time and keep in contact with the driver for real-time updates.

For groups travelling to ski resorts, wellness stays, or winter events in Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska, or the Podhale region, our 20-seater buses and autokary (coaches for up to around 50 people) work well for larger tour groups, school trips, or company integration trips organised straight from the airport. Smaller families or couples usually opt for our 8-seater buses, which are more comfortable for direct door-to-door service to guesthouses or h
